The present invention is directed to a feed a containing cellulase obtainable by a microorganism belonging to the genus Acremonium and a method for improving the growth and the feed conversion rate of animals which comprises feeding the animals with a feed containing cellulase obtainable by a microorganism belonging to the genus Acremonium. Compared with the cellulase conventionally used as a feed additive, cellulase obatinable by a microorganism belonging to the genus Acremonium exerts a high decomposability on crystalline cellulose and a potent capability of saccharifying cellulose into glucose. Thus the present invention aims at improving the feeding efficiency of animals by adding this cellulase to an animal feed to thereby promote the effective utilization of the nutritive components of the feed.
