A resilient joint comprises two coaxial rigid sleeves 1, 2, the opposing surfaces of which are fully covered by rubber layers 3, 4, bonded thereto, and a layer of rigid rollers, e.g. balls 5 of steel or glass, interposed in the annular space 12 between the two rubber layers 3, 4 to radially pre-stress the latter. The outer sleeve 2 has bent-over ends 8, 9 to retain the balls 5 alternatively both the inner and outer sleeves 1, 2 may be provided with bent-over ends. The balls 5 are preferably guided as shown by spacer cages 13 of rubberized cloth. The balls may be replaced by rolling bodies having their axes parallel with the axis of the joint a spacer cage in this case being essential. A rubber sleeve, with or without an external metal sleeve, can be bonded around the outer sleeve. Fig. 3 shows an alternative shape of joint. |
