PURPOSE:To efficiently increase a recording time while maintaining the recording quality of digital signal to be recorded in a solid-state memory in quality as high as possible. CONSTITUTION:A hierarchial encoder is constituted of a band divider 12. quantizers 13 to 16, a hierarchy divider 17 and an input signal is divided into M pieces of bands by the band divider 12 and bands are respectively quantized into previously given number of bits by quantizers 13 to 16 and then quantized codes having quantized Q bits in total are inputted to the hierarchy divider 17 to be divided into a first to Nth hierarchies by a predetermined method. A write-in controller 19 writes respective hierarchial data in data storage areas of a solid-state memory 18 in a predetermined address order. At this time, in the case high-order hierarchial data are aleady written in an address in which the data are to be written, the controller 19 stops the writing. Then, auxiliary information expressing attributions of data such as the address in which hierarchial data are to be stored, etc., are stored in the atociliary information storage area of the solid-state memory 18. |
