PURPOSE:To prevent developer from being scattered to the outside of a developing device and to prevent such a failure that the number of sealing members is increased by providing the sealing member only on a side where the scattered developer separated from a developing area flows. CONSTITUTION:The rotating direction of the developing roller 10 of a developing device 3 occupying a developing position is set so that the roller 10 may be moved in the same direction as a photoreceptor drum 11 in the developing area D. The sealing members 93, 93R and 93B preventing the developer existing in the developing area from being scattered are respectively installed in the respective developing devices 3, 3R and 3B, and the base end sides of the members 93, 93R and 93B are immovably fixed on a developing unit main body, that is, the casing member 5 of the developing unit 1. Namely, the sealing member 93 of the developing device 3 occupying the developing position is positioned only on the upstream side of the developing area D with respect to the rotating direction of the roller 10, and the sealing member 93 whose free end side abuts on the surface of the drum 11 is provided on the upstream side of the developing area D with respect to the rotating direction of the roller 10. |
