The rear face of the seat back (10) constitutes the partition with the vehicle luggage compartment (3). The back is fastened by one part near its upper end in contact with a local wall (14) in the luggage compartment. It is fastened by another part at the end of its lower end on a pivot (30) in contact with an adjacent wall. The back frame has a transverse tube (25) supported in an intermediate plate (33) carried by the vehicle floor. This intermediate plate carries a retaining hook (37) and a stop for limiting tipping which is in contact with the tube and with a stop (43) carried by the rear face of the back. The retaining hook and the tipping stop are locally in contact with the sides of the intermediate plate which delimit a mounting notch for the back frame
