A balanced boring head includes a boring tool holder section (2) and an unbalance compensating section (3). The boring tool holder section comprises an adjusting member (7) for positioning a boring tool holder (5) eccentrically in relation with the central axis of the boring head. The unbalance compensating section (3) comprises a bore (13) and a cylindrical unbalance compensating member (16) placed in said bore. A helical groove (17) is formed on the cylindrical surface of said member (16). A fix pin (18) protrudes into the groove (17), forcing the unbalance compensating member (16) to move axially when rotated. In this way, the unbalance caused by the eccentric position of the tool holder (5) can be compensated for by the compensating member (16). <IMAGE>
