PURPOSE:To continuously control the changing characteristic of damping force to the opening area of a bypass passage in both high piston speed area and low piston speed area in a damping force variable type shock absorber. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of slits 160 are formed on the outer circumferential part of a spool valve 86, and a notch 166 is formed on a valve housing, so that the fluid force for rotating the spool valve 86 is worked by the running of the oil passing the slits 160, and the opening area is changed. A thin plate 164 for nipping a stopper 162 is mounted on a shaft 71, the rotation of the spool valve 86 is determined by the fluid force flowing into the slits 160 and the elasticity of the thin plate, and a spool rotating angle proportional to the piston speed can be provided. |
