The invention relates to a tobacco cartridge which is cut from a tobacco rod by a cutting operation at the factory and is prefabricated and consists of a portion of tobacco which is open at the ends, corresponds to the tobacco filling of a finished cigarette and can be introduced into a cigarette paper tube (6), the outer surface of said portion of tobacco being formed from a wrapping (4) which is made of completely smokable material and is permeable to air in such a way that it cannot be smoked as such, but can be consumed by smoking when it has been introduced into the cigarette paper tube. The invention is characterised in that one or both end faces of the tobacco cartridge is/are enlarged in terms of area relative to the cross-sectional area either (a) by a cut surface (20, 20') sloping towards the longitudinal plane of the tobacco cartridge or (b) by a cut surface (20'', 20''') running perpendicular or obliquely to the longitudinal plane in a curved or wedge shape in profile. <IMAGE> |
