The socket includes a screening frame (1) and an interior rocker switch or button (2) incorporating a central window (3) which are manufactured from plastic. On the back of the switching element a number of symbols (5) are arranged on an arcuate strip (4) with holes (11) in its ends (10), rotatable between concentric guides (7). The symbol, such as a bell, key or light-bulb, appearing in the window is back-lit by a filament lamp so that the function of the switch is clearly discernible in the dark.
