A cell-type filter cartridge has a plurality of cells (22,24) arranged co-axially and each having first and second filter media (44) with netting (42) stretched over the outer (unfiltered fluid) sides thereof. A plastics ring is moulded in position around and over the peripheries of the first and second filter media (44) and the netting. A separator (46) is centrally disposed between the media (44) of each cell to prevent the collapsing thereof, and inter-cell spacers (48) are positioned between adjacent cells, the spacers having sealing rings (50).
