FO-3216 SUBSTANCE AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To produce a new compound having an acyl coenzyme A cholesterol transferase inhibitory effect and useful for prevention and therapy of diseases, e.g. human hyperlipidemia caused by accumulation of cholesterol and adult diseases such as arteriosclerosis. CONSTITUTION:A compound is expressed by formula I (R is H or COCH3; Y is OH, OCOCH3 or O; X is O or NCH2CH2OH; the dotted line represents a single bond or a double bond), e.g. the compound of formula II. The compound of formula I can be produced by culturing a microorganism belonging to Penicillium preferably Penicillium sp. FO-3216 (FERM-P-14152) preferably at pH5 and 27 deg.C for 1 to 2 days.
