PURPOSE:To obtain the method and device for processing image in which the reproducibility of a highlight part is improved by replacing data with a prescribed density or below with regular data while reserving a density of a local area in the case of resolution conversion. CONSTITUTION:Image data are received at an input terminal 1 by a host computer or a formatter or the like and converted into a density signal (CMY) at a density conversion circuit 2 and a black signal (K) is generated by a UCR circuit 3 and a color is corrected by a masking circuit 4. The correction data whose color is corrected is multiplied by (n) (n is a ratio of picture element numbers by resolution conversion) at a multiplier circuit 5 and the density of each color multiplied by (n) is distributed to picture elements after resolution conversion at a distribution circuit 6. Then a raster processing circuit 7 converts scanning into raster scanning and a gamma correction circuit 8 corrects a density characteristic of an engine and the density of each color subject to resolution conversion is outputted to a printer engine from an output terminal 9. |
