PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of regenerative energy by effectively controlling auxiliary braking and auxiliary accelerating operation relative to the slope of road surface or loadage during traveling of a motor vehicle. CONSTITUTION:An inverter circuit 4 for combining together a DC circuit of condensing means and a multi-phase AC circuit of a squirrel-cage induction machine 2 coupled to an internal combustion engine 1 for driving an axle shaft by converting electric energy in double direction between them, a control circuit 5 for controlling this inverter circuit 4, a slope sensor 8 for detecting the slope of a motor vehicle as electric signal, and a weight sensor 9 for detecting the weight of the motor vehicle as electric signal are provided, thereby taking in the detected output from the slope sensor 8 and weight sensor 9. In conformity with the detected output, if an up-grade exceeding a predetermined value exists, then the auxiliary braking is prohibited and then auxiliary acceleration is prohibited if it is a down-grade exceeding a predetermined value. By doing this, a burden to the internal combustion engine 1 is further reduced when the up-grade is large, thereby reducing black smoke in exhaust gas; and the amount of generative energy can be increased when the down-grade is large. |
