A microwave oven having a cavity and a lid for closing off the cavity. The oven is fitted with a safety catch device which prevents opening of the door as a consequence of a sudden pressure increase in the cavity. Pressure receptive means sense the pressure in the cavity and activate catch means which catches the locking device for the door. The invention keeps operation of the door simple and eliminates the risk of injury as a consequence of explosive events in the cavity. <IMAGE> |
