The decoder comprises an initializer for searching a start code from input codes, and storing the code data in pre-input/output memory; an eleventh and twelfth latching parts for reading the code data from the pre-input/output memory, and maintaining the code data until a demodulation; a first and second barrel shifting parts for shifting the data inputted from the eleventh and twelfth latching parts according to a selecting signal; a thirteenth latching part for latching the output data from the first barrel shifting part; a decoder for decoding the data inputted from the second barrel shifting part, and converting the data into a real data; a length decoder for measuring the length of a code word outputted from the second barrel shifting part; an adder for accumulating the code length of the length decoder; a rest counter for operating an added value through the adder by means of the number of bits of the eleventh latching part; a fifteenth latching part for storing the rest output from the rest counter; a pre-input/output memory controlling part for producing the read of the pre-input/output memory and latch enable signals of the eleventh and twelfth latching part; and sixteenth latching part for storing the length of the start code searched from the initializer.
