In manually actuable blind riveters (10), a front sleeve (14) is arranged on the front side of a riveter housing (12) and a mouthpiece (18) for receiving a mandrel is fixed in the front end of the said sleeve. Arranged in the front sleeve (14), behind the mouthpiece (18), is a chuck (20) for the mandrel and this chuck is connected to a movable pulling piston (24) extending through the riveter housing (12) and having an interior designed as a discharge channel (26) for mandrels which have been torn off. Arranged laterally on the riveter housing (12) are two articulated levers (42) for the transmission of an axial force component to the mandrel leading to a stroke during the actual riveting process. In such blind riveters, the force required to set a riveted joint increases with the size and thickness of the blind rivet to be set. With the blind riveter according to the invention, on the other hand, blind rivets of various sizes and thicknesses can be set in a simple manner with essentially the same expenditure of force in all cases. This is achieved according to the invention by virtue of the fact that the stroke of the pulling piston (24) can be adjusted by altering the distance between the mouthpiece (18) and the chuck (20). <IMAGE> |
