PURPOSE:To improve wear resistance by making a sintered material comprising Al2O3 as a main component and additives such as SiO2, MgO and B2O3 in a specific weight ratio have a specific average crystal particle diameter of Al2O3 and Rockwell hadness. CONSTITUTION:90-95wt.% of readily sinterable AL2O3 powder having <=1mum average particle diameter and >=5m<2>/g specific surface area is mixed with 3.0-5.0wt.% of SiO2, 1.0-1.5wt.% of MgO and 0.5-3.5wt.% of B2O3 as sintering additives and further an organic binder for molding, blended by a ball mill, granulated by a spray dryer, etc., and the granules formed. Then the granules are molded under about 800-1,200kg/cm<2> press pressure and baked by a baking furnace in an oxidizing atmosphere at 1,400-1,500 deg.C to provide a high-strength wear-resistant Al2O3 sintered material having 2-5mum average crystal particle diameter of Al2O3 in the sintered material and <=89g/mm<2> Rockwell hardness. |
