PURPOSE:To prevent a reduction in breakdown voltage of a power cable by using a composite obtained by adding a specified quantity of a specified compound to polyethylene as an insulator. CONSTITUTION:To 100 parts by weight of polyethylene, 0.5-3.0 parts by weight of dicumyl peroxide, 2.0-0.5 parts by weight of triaryl isocyanate, and 0.10-0.60 parts by weight of 4,4'-thiobis(6-t-butyl-3-methylphenol) are added. The resulting composite is used as an insulator to constitute a power cable. By the use of dicumyl peroxide and triaryl isocyanate, the generating quantity of moisture which is the secondary decomposed product of dicumyl peroxide is reduced to suppress the occurrence of water-tree phenomenon. Thus, a reduction in breakdown voltage of a power cable can be prevented. |
