The invention relates to a compressible, shear-force absorbing and sealing laminate structure comprising two rubber layers and an intermediate metal layer. According to the invention, the laminate structure comprises two thin carrier-calendared rubber films, each having a thickness of at least about 0.05 mm, and a thin metal plate disposed between the rubber films, wherein each rubber film is affixed to the plate by vulcanization. The laminate finds use as gasket material, for instance in the manufacture of cylinder head gaskets for internal combustion engines. |
