Provided near a taking-in port (14) of a banknote storage chamber (10) are a first shaft (21) and a second shaft (31) which are parallel to each other. The first shaft (21) is provided with taking-in impellers (20), and the second shaft (31) is provided with taking-in rollers (30). The taking-in impellers (20) and taking-in rollers (30) are located at different positions in a direction in which the respective shafts extend. Further, the sum of radii of the taking-in impellers (20) and taking-in rollers (30) is greater than a spacing between the first shaft (21) and the second shaft (31). Accordingly, when a plurality of overlapping banknotes are caught between the taking-in impellers (20) and the taking-in rollers (30), they become curved in a waveform, so that adhering forces between the banknotes are extremely decreased to facilitate aligning of the banknotes.
