This invention provides novel cyclic compounds containing carbocyclic ring systems of formula (I), which are useful as antagonists of the platelet glycoprotein (IIb/IIIa) receptor complex. The present invention also provides pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds and therapeutic methods of using such compounds and compositions for the inhibition of platelet aggregation, as thrombolytics, and/or for the treatment of other thromboembolic disorders.
