In order to counteract errors of measurement in pulsed flows, the device (1) has an axially extending measuring channel (33) in which is fitted a temperature-sensitive measuring element (20). The measuring channel (33) extends from an inlet aperture (36) to a deflection channel (34) from which the flowing medium flows from an outlet aperture (46) at no axial distance to the inlet aperture (36) radially below the latter. The invention is designed to measure the mass of a flowing medium, especially for the measurement of the mass of inlet air in internal combustion engines.
