The system applies a seal or adhesive substance by automatically feeding or partic. spraying it in a profiled cross-sectioned form directly onto a workpiece or component form an applicating nozzle (1). The applicating nozzle has a notch or partic. a slit (2) which runs in the axial direction of the nozzle. The notch or slit is in the form of an outwards tapering nozzle outlet (3).
