PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium excellent in lubricity, wear and corrosion resistances by forming a lubricative layer on a protective layer with a lubricant made of a fluorosilicone compd. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic recording medium consists of a nonmagnetic substrate, a metallic magnetic layer disposed on the substrate optionally with an underlayer in-between, a protective layer disposed on the magnetic layer and a lubricative layer disposed on the protective layer. The lubricative layer contains a fluorosilicone compd. contg. Si to which at least one of monovalent polyfluorohydrocarbon groups represented by the formulae Rf<1>-<1>-, Rf<2>-X<2>-O-X<3>-, and RF<3>-X<4>-O-X<5> has been bonded. In the formulae, Rf<1> is a monovalent polyfluorohydrocarbon group, Rf<2> is a monovalent polyfluorohydrocarbon group contg. an etheric oxygen atom, Rf<3> is a monovalent polyfluorohydrocarbon group and each of X<1> to X<5> is a divalent org. group. |
