Automated return of containers having deposit that is returned

Containers, e.g. drinking glasses, that carry a cash deposit are returned to an automated unit that is in the form of a large rectangular housing (1) with a front panel. The system has a front aperture with sliding door (5) through which the containers are entered. Internally there is a cross slide unit and gripper unit that delivers the containers into storage areas (52,53). Built into the housing is a microcomputer (9) and VOU that controls the handling system and the delivery of deposit coins through a chute (41).
