<p>PURPOSE: To provide a cutting apparatus capable of safely manufacturing fragile products into groups of end-to-end connected bag packages. CONSTITUTION: This cutting apparatus is provided with a first rotary member 1 including a knife 9 and a second rotary member 2 including a counter-support 10 and cutting a transverse seam 7 connecting two adjoining bag packages 8 and situated between a knife edge and an outer surface. The outer surface is provided with a depression. The apparatus further has a shifting mechanism for shifting a rotary knife 1 and the counter-support 10 to first and second positions respectively. In the first position, the knife 1 passes across the depression for leaving a length portion of the knife 1 out of contact with the outer surface, whereby the transverse seam 7 uncut along the length portion to preserve connecting webs 12 between the two adjoining bag packages 8. In the second position, the knife 1 is offset relative to the depression for allowing the knife 1 to be throughout in contact with the outer surface, whereby the transverse seam 7 is severed and the two adjoining bag packages 8 are separated from one another.</p> |
