<p>PURPOSE:To provide a supporting member for a piano formed by using substitutive timber which has sufficient durability, is excellent in beauty and is relatively inexpensive due to its advantageousness in resource, etc., and an upright type piano. CONSTITUTION:The supporting member 1 is thinnings of larch formed into a square columnar shape and many knots 1a appear on its surface. This supporting members 1 is more durable than lauan and spruce. The supporting member 1 is used as a post, sill and beam in the upright piano. The post, sill and beam formed by coating the entire part of the supporting member 1 with a black coating material to conceal the knots are used. Then, the knots are unidentifiable in appearance even if the material having the knots is used and, therefore, the beauty is not impaired. Even more, the supporting member 1 having a high durability is used, and, therefore, the piano has the sufficient durability even if the piano is not provided with middle struts. The piano is thus capable of exhibiting sufficient acoustic characteristics for a long period of time.</p> |
