METHOD FOR THE PREPARATION OF BORIDE CERAMIC PRODUCTS

The products are made by infiltration of molten base metal in boron carbide and usually include a boric compound and a metal. The infiltrating material can contain one or more inert fillers mixed with boron carbide. The finished product consists of a metalic matrix, boric compounds and filling material. The conditions for running the process as well as the quantities of the individual components can be changed and controlled for making of products containing different volume percentages of ceramic, metal and/or pores.
