Loading and unloading process and equipment at railway terminal

The gantry crane has at least one horizontal traverse with at least vertically downwardly extending side supports in the two end areas. The gantry crane (203) is carried on a transport wagon (204) of a train, from which to achieve its loading and unloading function it extends with its traverse (205) and can raise or lower by extending or shortening its side supports (209,210). In the raised position it is travellable with its side supports on opposite sides of the train. With a grip device (203,207) movable along the traverse it is able to engage and move large loads. The traverse in the transport position in the train longitudinal direction is located on the crane wagon (204) and to assume the loading and unloading position is rotated through 90 deg. horizontally.
