<p>The present invention relates to a process for treatment of waste water, for purification thereof, comprising causing ascending flow of the waste water under treatment, through a column (2), made of plastics, having composite electrodes (7) immersed therein, the anode of the said electrodes being constituted by combination of iron and aluminium, while the cathode being constituted by iron alone, the said column being provided on its top with a hopper-bottom receptacle made of plastics (3), so that on energisation of the said electrodes, the ascending flow of the waste water is subjected to electrochemical reaction, whereby the impurities in the waste water are separated and are drained out from top of the column, followed by filtration (10) of the water, so purified, by passing it through a filter medium (11), and, optionally, if so required, spurging sub-microscopic bubbles of air in upward direction through the column, in the course of electrolysis of the waste water, for carrying the suspended solids in the waste water, under treatment, upwards, so as to be drained out through the outlet (5), provided on top of the column. <IMAGE></p> |
