PURPOSE:To eliminate the following defects: Insufficient reactivity of coupling, remarkable color fog, poor diffusibility and consequent coating torubles, instability of compounds, etc., by using a specified 2 equivalent cyan coupler. CONSTITUTION:A colorless photographic cayn coupler is used having an alkoxy eliminable group of formula I in which R is alkyl or alkenyl substituted by one or more epoxy, in the position where coupling takes place with the oxidized form of an aromatic primary amine developing agent. A perferable coupler is represented by formula I in which A is a group eliminating a group of formula I in developing an reacting with the oxidized form of the developer resulting in forming a cyan dye, and n is preferably 1 or 2, especially represented by formula III in which A1 is the residue of a cyan dye forming coupler having a phenol or alpha-naphthol ring, and R1 is H, an aliphatic group with 30 or less carbon atomes, similar alkoxy, aryloxy, or the like. |
