PURPOSE:To simply perform the cleaning work of the thermal head of a thermal transfer printer by a user. CONSTITUTION:In performing the cleaning of the thermal head 49 of a thermal transfer printer equipped with an ink ribbon cartridge having an ink ribbon to which cueing data is imparted, a cleaner sheet 58 having heat resistance and an uneven surface is supplied to the printer in place of printing paper. A cleaning cartridge 59 having a header mark sheet 60 to which a header mark 61 becoming the cueing data of the ink ribbon 15 is applied is mounted to the printer to allow the printer to perform printing operation and the refuse of the resistor part 49a of the thermal head 49 is removed by the cleaner sheet 58.
