PURPOSE: To achieve improvements in stability, hue, gray and color development by using a monoazo dye of a specific structure. CONSTITUTION: A monoazo dye for thermal transfer recording represented by formula I is obtained. In the formula I, R1 , R2 are H, a substituted or a non-substituted C1-8 alkyl or aryl or the like; A-C are H, halogen, cyanonitro, a C1-4 alkoxy or the like; X is H, a C1-4 alkyl or the like and Y is selected from formulae II-X. In the formulae II-X, R3 , R4 are H, a substituted or a non- substituted C1-4 alkyl group, halogen, alkylcarboxylate or carbonyl; R3 ...R4 are a substituted or a non-substituted C1-4 alkyl group, halogen, alkylcarboxylate or carbonyl when R3 , R4 are not cyclized and are a C3-6 saturated non-saturated cycloalkyl when R3 , R4 are cyclized; and Z is nitro, halogen, a C1-4 alkyl, alkoxy or the like. |
