PURPOSE: To generate effective, visualized image in three-dimensional structure by a computer for graphics by a series of two-dimensional projection images similar to X-ray photographs, while complicated three-dimensional structure stored as digital information in a computer is needed for scientists, engineers, designers, and medical diagnostic experts. CONSTITUTION: By displaying a series of perspective images including movement from a slightly shifted directions, the structure appears in the space in front of an observer while being rotated. When this is performed by a normal volume rendering method depending upon ray-tracing technology, the actual application is limited because of an expensive time needed to calculate the projection images. Another method for generating the projection images on the based on fast Fourier transformation (c, g) and inverse projection slice theory (f) is actualized. This approach requires far less computation for the video generation, enables filtering to be applied methodically, and has the advantage of the optimum utilization of a specialized computer. |
