PURPOSE:To provide the mechanical optical switch which prevents a device from being complicated or large-sized and makes light, which is made incident from one of first and second optical paths, incident on the other after signal processing like branching or mixing at the time of switching of the switch. CONSTITUTION:A laminated waveguide 3 which has the signal processing function of light branching, mixing, or the like and where three kinds of intermediating optical waveguides 4 to 6 different by patterns of cores 7 are laminated is arranged between first and second optical path setting parts 11 and 12 provided with first and second optical fibers 1 and 2, and this laminated waveguide 3 is moved in the laminating direction to switch the intermediating optical waveguides 4 to 6 which intermediate the first and second optical fibers 1 and 2, thus switching the connection between the first optical fiber 1 and the second optical fiber 2. |
