PURPOSE:To charge a secondary battery continuously with no interruption by preventing abnormal temperature rise of the heating components constituting a power supply circuit thereby preventing thermal runaway thereof. CONSTITUTION:The charger includes a control means 1 comprising a battery voltage detecting section 1A, and a circuit 1B for operating the detected voltage and controlling the charged state of a secondary battery. The control circuit 1B stops the charging operation when the secondary battery is fully charged. The control means 1 further comprises a sensor 2 for detecting the temperature of heating components in power supply circuit. When the temperature of heating components exceeds a set level, the control circuit 1B decreases the charging current of the secondary battery and then interrupts the detection of full charge of the secondary battery.
