The planter (1) is designed to have the base (9) formed as a tubular element, which is elastically deformable, and which is extended downwards from the main section of the container by a tubular neck extension (8). The base section (9) is manufactured in such a way, that it can be bent upwards to form a annular collar (11', 10") in the form of a saucer. The base is formed with circular grooves (12, 15) to form hinges, in order that the base can deformed in either of two ways to form one of three stable arrangements. It can be bent up at the lower groove (12) to form a shallow saucer (10'), bent up at the upper groove (15) to form a deeper saucer (11', 10"), or alternatively up at the upper groove and down at the lower groove to form a shallow saucer, with base (11').
