<p>PURPOSE: To provide the method for encoding digital data in cases where a group of encoded symbols do not allow all combinations of characters. CONSTITUTION: In a character string on a storage medium where a character which is normally expected to possibly appear at an improper position, a character which is not used in a character field, is inspected in the field. An improperly expected character is replaced with a permissible character. The field in the character string is so planned that the permissible character is converted into a planned character, after the decoding of the character string.</p> |
