The prepn./distribution unit consists of a container (1) with a hopper (2) to receive the meal used for the feed, a stirrer and mixer (8) and an outlet (12) at the bottom. Water for mixing with the meal or cleaning the container is fed in through inlets at the top so that it drops onto the surface of an inverted dispersal cone (9) on a driven vertical shaft (5) which has an auger (6) at the top to push the flour down into the container and prevent liquids from rising, and a turbine (11) at the bottom for ejecting the prepd. feed through the outlet (12). In a variant of the design, the unit has an input auger at the top between an outside hopper and the cone. The auger is turned by the drive shaft through bevel gears.
