The device has a locking element in the form of a steel bolt which in the region of one of its ends is provided with a chain and which in the region of its end facing the chain has an adaptor endpiece which is retained in a lock holder tightly screwed to the wheel axle. A key is provided for the locking element which is positionable in a defined position after one insertion of the key.
