Steroid glycosides for treating hypercholesterolaemia. The invention relates to steroid glycosides of formula IA in which Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4 and Q5 are methylene or carbonyl groups and can contain an optionally substituted hydroxyl group, C5 is alpha and C25 is (R).
