The tank (1) for liquid metal is intended for use in an installation for continuous casting of metal filaments directly from liquid metal. It is provided with a tight cover (3), and incorporates at its lower extremity a die whose final interior diameter determines the filament diameter. The tank is characterised by the following facts: (a) the die takes the form of a tablet (8) which is separate from the tank (1) and is provided with an orifice (9); and (b) detacheable means are provided for pressing the tablet (8) against the lower extremity of the tank (1).
