THERMOPLASTIC FILM WITH EXCELLENT PRINTABILITY

PURPOSE:To prevent curling from occurring and to improve printability by providing a pigmented coating layer on the obverse surface or both the surfaces and the reverse face of a petroleum resin-contg. thermoplastic resin film. CONSTITUTION:A compsn. is obtd. by compounding a thermoplastic resin with 1-30wt.% petroleum resin with a m.p. of 60-150 deg.C and 5-65wt.% inorg. fine powder with a mean particle diameter of at most 10mum. After this compsn. and a thermplastic resin is separately extruded into a film-like shape, if necessary, it is drawn by 1.3-12-fold in a uniaxial direction to obtain a thermoplastlc resin film consisting of a surface layer consisting of the compsn. with a thickness of at least 2mum and a base layer consisting of the thermoplastic resin with a thickness of 8-300mum. The obverse surface or both the surfaces and the reverse face of this film are coated with a pigmented coating agent contg. 30-80wt.% pigment and 15-60wt.% adhesive and with a solid content concn. of 15-70wt.% so as to obtain a coating of 0.1-20 g/m<2> to form a pigmented layer with a thickness of 0.05-20mum.
