A watertight programmer has a double switch permitting the opening and closing of an electrically driven impulse valve. The time and software in the programmer are maintained during a battery change by a lithium cell and the programmer is connected to the valve by an armoured cable. The programmer and solenoid impulse operated valve are contained in a chest which may be buried or wall mounted according to the circumstances of the installation. The valve normally controlling the installation is opened and the solenoid valve becomes the automatic regulator.
