PURPOSE:To provide a back light for a panel having high brightness, with reduced brightness irregularity, by providing a specific reflection film (plate) close to an end part of a side surface of a light guide plate comprising translucent material for radiating light from a large surface of the light guide plate. CONSTITUTION:In a back light having a linear light source close to at least one side surface end part of a light guide plate comprising translucent material for radiating light from one large surface of the light guide plate, the linear light source is covered with a reflection plate or reflection film of a yellowness degree of 3-8 and/or an OD value of 1.5-5.5. Light diffusion material applied to this light guide plate is formed in dots desirably, where the form of each dot may be a circle, a rectangle, or a cross. These are applied on intersections (grids) of virtual perpendicular lines at a specified interval in the light guide plate, where the interval between the perpendicular lines is selected in the range of 0.5-3mm in accordance with the thickness of the light guide plate. |
