A cutter blade (48) is provided having a cutting face (50). Formed in the cutting face are a plurality of spaced apart slots (52), each slot having forward (54) and rearward (56) sidewalls. A tooth (22,68) is removably received in each of the slots (52), each tooth (22,68) having a top surface extending above the cutting face and having forward and rearward sidewalls, The top surface (41) of each tooth has a forward cutting edge (34) and a rearward reduced height step section (42). A retention bar (28) is provided for each tooth, each retention bar having a forward end that is received in the step section. A pin (30) extending through an opening in each retention bar is threadably connected to the cutting face (50). By tightening the threaded pin (30) the retention bar (28) retains each tooth (22,68) during cutting operation so that the tooth sidewalls (36,38) frictionally engage the slot sidewalls (54,56) and by unthreading the pin (30) the retention bar (28) may be rotated to permit removal and replacement of each of the teeth (22,68). <IMAGE> |
