ANTI-WITHERING COMPOSITION FOR PINES AND ANTI-WITHERING METHOD

An anti-withering composition for pines, which contains a compound represented by general formula (I) or a salt thereof as the active ingredient, and an anti-withering method for pines which comprises applying the above composition to the plant, wherein R1 represents alkyl, cycloalkyl or alkenyl; R2 represents halogen, alkyl, alkanoyl or alkylsilyl; R3 represents hydrogen or optionally substituted hydroxy; R4 represents hydrogen, hydroxy, or alkoxyimino; and the carbon-to-carbon bond X represents a single or double bond. The composition prevents maturing feeding of Japanese pine sawyer and infection with pine wood nematode, and kills the nematode before it begins to work in trees even when the trees have been infected therewith.
