The vehicle roof has a glass cover. The outer surface (21) of the seal lip (16) is turned towards the rounded cover plate edge (20). In order to receive and accommodate the edge, the seal outer surface has a groove-like recess (22) by which the seal lip is divided into a shorter upper shank (23) and a lower longer shank (24). The lower shank is directed downwards and towards the cover plate edge. The upper shank is pressed against the upper region of the cover plate edge by the lever effect created by the inward movement of the shanks, reducing the area of the indentation zone (18).
