The appts. includes an open container (5) open on one side with a displacement measuring device (16) inside. The structure being tested (1) is subjected to a mechanical loading. The container is placed on the structure surface (3) and the displacement measurement device inside the container contacts the surface under test. The container is connected to a mechanically operated suction unit (8), e.g. a suction lifting device operated via a linkage lever. The container can be a suction bell.
