A circuit breaker comprises a manual operating handle 10 fixed to a member 11, a pivotable supporting lever 12 engaged at a free end 120 by a latch 14, upper and lower toggles 15, 17 coupled between the supporting lever 12 and a movable contact carrier 22 connected to a shaft 23, an actuating spring 19 between the handle member 11 and the toggle axle 16 and levers 30 rotatably mounted on both sides of the supporting lever 12 so as to be engageable with the upper toggle 15. When the operating handle 10 is moved to the off position, the levers 30 are moved by the handle member 11 to act on the upper toggle 15 and the toggles 15, 17 move overcentre. If the contacts 24a, 25a are welded, the handle member 11 is prevented from moving from the overcentre position to the off position by engagement with the shaft 23. <IMAGE>
